From Fever to Everlasting!

March30

The 8th grade reading class just completed the historical fiction book, Fever 1793 by Laurie Halse Anderson. They got a closer look into what Philadelphia was like when yellow fever threaten the survival of society. Matty Cook gave us an inside look as to the realities that teenagers had to face during such a difficult time for the United States.

From death and disaster to the fountain of youth! The 8th graders are about to venture into Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbit. The book has some powerful themes surrounding life decisions, such as making the most of what we have and being grateful for it!

The 8th grade reading presents

“The  TODAY Show”

Here’s the scoop:

-Each of you will be interviewed as the person you are reading about in your auto/biography. Questions will reflect major events in the person’s life. Therefore, you will need to complete your book answer the interview questions based on the facts.

-Since it is also a news’ show, we will need some current news to report on as well…therefore we will need the following reports..Weather, Sports, Economics, Entertainment, Government/Politics, and Health.

-Information for these reports will come from the newspaper and edited by Ms. Kushik.

-When all books are completed, interviewed questions turned in, news’ reports submitted; we will tape our version of the “Today Show”

- We will take turns playing the roles of interviewer, reporter and cameraperson.

- Costumes are optional, but would make the experience a lot more fun.
