6th grade Adventures in Ancient Egypt!

May5

The 6th grade reading class just completed their journey into Ancient Egypt. We explored this amazing society through a comical book titled, “The Lost Diary of Tutankamun’s Mummy” by Clive Dickinson. This historical fiction book re-created what Ancient Egypt was like for royalty as well as for the commoners. We also studied the importance of the Nile and some of the inventions discovered during this time. Students were required to keep running reading logs via comprehension questions that accompanied each chapter. The final project was to create a mummy and sarcophagus to match. This unit was also in preparation for an upcoming project that the students will be responsible for in their Social Studies class.
